Let YouthPartnersNET help your ministry.

For Him and Them: October 2008

The power of multiplication and blessing amazes me when we're focused on building God's kingdom. Your gift has had a part in that multiplication principle. In fact your gift had a part in helping our partners receive gifts of $16,800 and $3,200 these past two weeks.

As you may know by now, with a grant from Compassion International, YouthpartnersNET, launched a new program called CityConnexx to help connect suburban and urban churches for a season of sharing. Our goal is to invite suburban churches to serve a week of "short-term missions for long-term impact". It's been incredible the kinds of stories and testimonies we've seen through these urban missions trips. Last summer those that came to serve in the city increased five fold and that's our goal for this coming summer. Check out www.CityConnexx.org for more info and photos.

We had college students from Illinois come to serve and Kenn was so moved by the needs and his experience that he is now working on our CityConnexx staff full time this year through AmeriCorp which was awarded to YPN through our partner TechMission for a value of $16,997.

Youth groups came from Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina and Colorado and served in New York City, Chicago and Denver. Three teens from Montana asked to be baptized in the river after accepting Christ during their trip. 19 other teens from Denver invited Jesus into their hearts after hearing the gospel message while serving in NYC. Pray for these youth that the seed planted in their hearts during CityConnexx will grow into doing great things for God.

One church from Colorado Springs came to Denver to serve at Pastor Age's urban youth Hip Hop Church. They were so impressed after their service week that they invited Age to share his heart and vision with others from their church about his Gang Intervention/Prevention Program.

After the meeting, they took up an offering and $16,800 was donated to Age’s ministry to support the work he is doing to save gang members like he use to be. That's our goal, that these visiting churches would catch a vision to help our urban and Native American partners beyond their mission trip and throughout the year. YPN could not have given Age that amount on our own but with this suburban partnership, they were able to help him expand this new ministry.

Last week, I was in San Diego holding our Executive Director Leadership Training. One of the attendees and new director, Caleb, took my seminars to heart. He applied principles he learned in class about fundraising to calls he made that evening and generated $3200 in gifts for his new ministry. He came back the next morning excited to see God open generous doors.

That's what it's all about. That's what keeps me so passionate about how together your gifts and our programs are building the kingdom in ways we couldn't imagine. We would never have seen these multiplications without faithful donors like you that keep us out there on the front lines of ministry. My prayer is that you will catch this vision to “Ignite your passion to serve". Come on one of our CityConnexx trips and meet grassroots urban leaders like Age and Caleb. Bring your family, small group, teens on a unique custom designed urban mission experience. Your life will be changed too.

Your Donations at Work:

Tha MYX International is a new urban ministry in Denver, CO with the focus of Gang Intervention/Prevention through Hoops N Raps, Music Production, and Tha MYX Hip Hop Church.  They recruit youth and young adults involved with gangs, drugs and other at risk issues to participate.  They currently have 40 youth enrolled in this weekly program learning social skills, work skills through service projects, and are taught about Christ’s love and the message of salvation.  Many of them come from broken families, drug and alcohol addicted parents and often abusive situations.  As one of our ministry sites for CityConnexx, we are very excited to provide this matching grant for their Gang Intervention/Prevention Program.

Prayer Request:

There are many prayer requests from the youth in this program.

L.J is asking for prayer as he would like to attend college and play college basketball.  Please pray that God open doors and provide him with this opportunity as he continues on this path steering away from gangs and drugs.

D-RO has asked for prayer as he would like to visit his brother in jail.  The social worker hasn’t been able to give his grandmother a gas voucher so the family has no way to get there.  Tha MYX is going to intervene and take the family to visit him and pray that seeing the change in D-RO’s life since he has been involved with Tha MYX, will make an impact in his life.
